    ECISD board meeting

    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Ector County Independent School District trustees are scheduled to review a possible plan Tuesday requesting that the Texas Education Agency exempt some of its lower attendance days this year from its funding formula.
According to the board agenda, the request, if approved, would ask the state agency to grant a waiver for some of the district’s attendance days during which absenteeism was 10 percent higher than the average daily attendance last year.
Such waivers can be requested for days in which students were missing due to issues related to weather, health or safety.
In other business, the board is scheduled to examine and consider the approval of the members of this year’s School Health Advisory Council, which is a group of community members who advise the board and ECISD administrators about issues pertaining to student health.
Another item on the agenda calls for the board to review and reauthorize its group medical plan committee.
In other business, the board is scheduled to:
       >> Review a possible agreement between ECISD and Odessa College regarding its Dual-credit Electrical Academy.
       >> Hear a request for out-of-state travel for the Permian High School Panther Paws dance team’s upcoming trip to Florida.
       >> Conduct its annual review of the districts ESL/bilingual program.
       >> Review an interlocal agreement between ECISD and Communities in Schools.
       >> Hear a request for approval of modified schedule/TAKS testing days waiver.
       >> Review a request for approval of an interlocal agreement between ECISD and the Crane Independent School District about an alternative education program.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building board room, 802 N. Sam Houston Ave.
