Chain collision ties up traffic

One woman was transported to the hospital as a precaution after three vehicles were involved in a minor chain reaction collision Monday around 1 p.m. at Seventh Street and Jackson Avenue.
A red Ford Ranger pickup was headed east on Seventh Street where it waited to turn left into the county building parking lot. A woman in a Saturn Ion waited behind the truck when a Chevy Monte Carlo came up behind the other two vehicles and collided with the Ion from the rear, which then hit the pickup.
“The driver failed to control speed and hit the other car,” Sgt. J. Carta said.
He said the woman in the Ion was transported for examination, but injuries were minor. Carta said no citations were issued immediately after the accident.
