Accident closes portion of eastbound I-10
PECOS COUNTY A trucker with an oversized load struck an overpass Thursday in rural Pecos County, the Texas Department of Transportation said, forcing the closure of eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 until debris could be cleared.
The closure was between mile markers 302 and 303, which is just west of the Iraan exit, a TxDOT news release stated.
The truck hit an overpass near the U.S. 190 exit to Iraan between Bakersfield and Sheffield, the release stated, and traffic was being rerouted to FM 2886 before rejoining I-10 a few miles later.
The overpass was also closed as of Thursday evening. It is a county road bridge and the number on the road wasn’t available for the release.
Motorists were told to expect delays and are asked to obey all detour signs.
