Man indicted, accused of spitting on officer

A man has been indicted on a felony charge this week after a search warrant last year led to him spitting on an Odessa Police Department officer.

Robert Booth, 34, was charged with harassment of a public servant, a third-degree felony, after he was accused of spitting Officer Alejandro Jurado.

According to the indictment, Booth was being searched Feb. 12, 2011, and “did then and there ... cause Alejandro Jurado ... to contact the saliva of the defendant.”

Booth was one of many indictments handed down by the 161st District Court grand jury on Monday.

Fabian Cervantes was indicted on an aggravated robbery charge after being arrested in October.

Cervantes, 18, and Morabi Belem Salinas, 17, were charged with aggravated robbery in connection with a reported Oct. 6 robbery in the parking lot of Sonic Drive-In, 2313 N. County Road West. The status of Salinas’ case wasn’t clear Thursday.

Raul Diaz, 35, was indicted on one count of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child, both second-degree felonies.

According to the indictment, Diaz penetrated the sexual organ of a girl with his finger and touched her breast.

Roy Allen Ostergren, 34, was indicted on several charges a couple months after his arrest in Butte County, Calif.

His common-law-wife, Melissa Ostergren, said in a previous interview that abuse has been consistent throughout their 11-year relationship.

Roy Ostergren was indicted on charges of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and assault (family violence) in connection with a Dec. 16 incident in which he was accused of hitting Melissa Ostergren with a bat and choking her.

He was also indicted on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge stemming from May 25. He was accused of ramming Melisa Ostergren’s vehicle and using his vehicle as a deadly weapon.

Roy Ostergren was being held Thursday at the Ector County Detention Center on $75,000 bond.
