Driver, passenger taken to MCH, remain in stable condition

Odessa police and fire departments investigate the scene of a two-car motor vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon at 42nd Street and Ranchland Avenue in Odessa.

About 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, a 2007 Kia Sportage was traveling eastbound on West 42nd Street as a 2000 Ford Windstar turned left from a stop sign at Ranchland Avenue, Odessa Cpl. Chris Primeaux reported.

The Sportage collided with the driver's side of the Windstar, tipping the van on its side.

The driver of the Windstar, 15-year-old Melinda Lopez, and the passenger, 13-year-old Alex Lopez, were both taken to Medical Center Hospital.

As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, both were listed in stable condition. The driver of the Sportage was 20-year-old Kaylee Goldsmith. Odessa police said the investigation is continuing.
