    19-year-old dies from motorcycle accident

A 19-year-old motorcyclist succumbed Wednesday to injuries from a Tuesday night wreck in a northeast Odessa parking lot.

Cpl. Sherrie Carruth said in a news release that Oran Daniel Jones died Wednesday morning at Medical Center Hospital.

According to police reports, Jones was riding a black 2006 Yamaha motorcycle about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday headed west in the parking lot of 2008 E. 42nd St., near McAllister's.

Police reported Jones accelerated quickly, popping a wheelie (causing the front wheel to leave the ground). He then lost control of the motorcycle and struck a fire hydrant, police said.

This is the second motorcycle fatality in a week. Demonica Dejuane Robinson, 34, died late Friday night in a two-vehicle collision on Eastridge Road in northeast Odessa.
