[NR] Odessa to participate in Great Texas Warrant Roundup
NEWS RELEASE The City of Odessa is participating in the annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, February 25, 2012. Individuals with outstanding warrants will be the primary focus of Odessa Police Officers.
Anyone with a warrant is subject to arrest at any time and location, including their home, work or in public. To avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest, defendants can make payments during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily.
Odessa Municipal Court is offering defendants an opportunity to save money if they voluntarily dispose of their case between February 21 and 24. During this four day period a $50 warrant fee will be waived per defendant.
Cash, check, money order, or credit card (MasterCard, Visa and Discover) payments are accepted online at trafficpayment.com or by calling 800.444.1187 or 888.444.1187.
Defendants can also appear in person at Odessa Municipal Court, 201 North Grant, between 8 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday or between 8 am and 3 pm on Saturdays.
Warrants will remain in effect until payment is received and posted by Municipal Court.
The warrants are a result of an individual’s failure to appear in person or in writing at the Odessa Municipal Court or failure to comply with a court order. Citations handled through the Odessa Municipal Court, and that could be part of the roundup, include traffic citations, parking tickets, code enforcement violations, failure to sterilize a pet adopted from the Odessa Animal Shelter, and other violations of the Odessa Municipal code or state law.
Anyone unsure if they have a warrant is encouraged to log on to the City of Odessa’s website, odessa-tx.gov, for a complete list of individuals with warrants.
For more information please call Kathryn Wells-Vogal, Municipal Court Director, at 432.335.3300.
