Hydrant testing

The Odessa Fire Department will be conducting hydrant tests during the month of March.

Testing will be done throughout the city of Odessa and will consist of flushing the hydrants, checking the flow, painting hydrants and performing routine service.

Maintenance is done twice a year as recommended for Insurance Services Office compliance.

The process can assist in obtaining a better ISO rating which can help lower insurance rates for homes and businesses.

The OFD recommends drivers stop and wait until a flowing hydrant is closed or to use an alternate route.
