Members of the Odessa Police Department, Ector County Sheriff's Office and Texas Department of Public Safety gather Sunday night at the intersection of Third Street and Tom Green Avenue.

What started as an argument between two exes spiraled into an hour-long barricade of Third Street and Tom Green Avenue and a search all over downtown Odessa, Ector County Sheriff Sgt. Gary Duesler said Sunday evening.

The ex-wife called the police on her former husband after an argument they had late that afternoon. When an Odessa officer found the husband at Fifth Street and Grant Avenue, he ran south, Duesler said.

Sheriff's deputies, Odessa police officers and DPS troopers responded by surrounding the area after the ex-husband took off, but by approximately 7:30 p.m. the efforts were called off. Duesler said the ex-wife decided not to press charges against the man, and the officers determined the man was not much of a threat.

"It was never a threat to the public," Duesler said. "It wasn't really what we thought it was.... We called for other officers because he did run."
