Son of the Confederacy
H.K. Edgerton, a southern heritage activist and former NAACP officer, plans a march into Midland to show support for Confederate history.
Edgerton, a black man who lives in North Carolina, has marched on Texas before. In 2002, he walked from his North Carolina home to Austin, carrying a Confederate flag.
The 58-year-old marches against what he calls “the wholesale and deliberate destruction of the positive aspects of Southern history by self-serving politicians and the media.”
“Southerners overwhelmingly still see themselves as Southerners, regardless of race, and most of them are not fooled by the propaganda,” he said in a news release.
