Fatal accident
Comments 0 | Recommend 0WARD COUNTY A Pyote man was killed in an accident early Friday morning on Interstate 20 east of Monahans, Department of Public Safety communications officer Patricia Deishler said.
Jeffrey Blaine Patterson, 44, was pronounced dead at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans after his 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche rolled over following a collision with a 1995 Chevrolet pickup at 12:07 a.m. Friday.
Deishler said Patterson's westbound Avalanche collided with the westbound pickup's rear about 7.5 miles east of Monahans, then swerved into the center lane before overcorrecting, going into a broadside skid leading from its driver's side and then started rolling over. The Avalanche came to a rest in an upright position in the center median.
The pickup, driven by 31-year-old April Perkins of Fort Stockton, pulled off the westbound shoulder and stopped after the collision.
Perkins and passenger Michael Perkins, 32, of San Marcos, complained of neck pains after the crash but were otherwise in good condition, Deishler said.
Patterson's body was taken to the Harkey family funeral home in Monahans.
