[MRT] Southwest to cut Midland-Albuquerque flight

MIDLAND Midlanders won’t have the ability to fly directly to Albuquerque starting in August after Southwest announced it will eliminate the nonstop flight.

“The volatile fuel landscape, which West Texans are so familiar with, really makes it difficult for us to operate some service where the economics are already marginal,” said Southwest Spokesman Brad Hawkins. “You throw in the high cost of fuel and it just doesn’t make it economically viable for us to continue Albuquerque-Midland.”
