Midland teacher arrested
MIDLAND A Midland teacher was charged with improper educator/student relationship after she was accused of having sexual relations with a 17-year-old male student.
A release issued by public information officer Tina Jauz said an MISD teacher reported the incident Thursday. Kenzi Friday, 23, was arrested and charged on Friday.
The incident occurred between the start of the school year through the beginning of April at a north Midland residence, Jauz said.
Midland Independent School District communications director Woodrow Bailey issued a news release stating a Midland High teacher had turned in her resignation Friday morning following allegations of an improper relationship. The release, however, did not specifically name Friday.
"These are very serious allegations and the entire situation is upsetting to us all." MISD Superintendent Sylvester Perez said. "We fully support the investigation and await more information from local law enforcement."
