‘Quiz Show' showcases Basin's high school academic talent

Basin PBS won a national production award for the first season of its original production, "Quiz Show".

General manager Daphne Dowdy Jackson accepted the award Jan. 16 in Tampa, Florida from Skip Hinton, president of the National Educational Television Association.

The show was up against programming from stations across the United States.
"Great things come out of West Texas including our next generation of leaders," Dowdy Jackson said. "The students made the show a success.

They were smart and funny, and I'm just so proud of all of them. I can't wait to meet this season's contestants."

The second season of "Quiz Show" begins taping in March with additional schools on the roster.

Midland Christian, Midland Academy and Greenwood join Odessa High, Permian, Midland High, Midland Lee, Trinity, Kermit, McCamey and Big Spring, plus there's a new group of celebrity "Quiz Wiz" questioners.

The Trinity Chargers tamed the Permian
Panthers using the power of knowledge to win the first ever "Quiz Show" MEGAQUIZ Championship last May on Basin PBS.

The close match was a battle to the end. View the game online at basinpbs.org.
