Kermit man dies

JAL, N.M. (AP) - A Texas man has died after rolling his pickup truck on an icy road in eastern New Mexico.
State police say Bruce Mendez, 31, of Kermit, Texas, lost control of his truck early Monday and skidded off N.M. 18 near the Texas-New Mexico border. The truck rolled and Mendez was ejected.
Mendez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the road at the time of the crash was icy and slick.
