Bible mediation
DALLAS Three Ector County Independent School District trustees and interim superintendent Hector Mendez are expected to meet Tuesday with mediator Hesha Abrams of Abrams Mediation & Negotiation Inc. in Dallas as part of a federal lawsuit over the district’s Bible course.
The mediation, which is expected to also involve plaintiffs in the case, will take place at Liberty Legal Institute offices in Plano.
Eight parents sued the district in May calling for officials to do away with the district’s Bible class on the grounds that it violates individual religious liberties.
U.S. District Judge Rob Junell required defendants and plaintiffs in the suit to go to mediation by Feb. 1.
