Executive to visit Permian Basin
MIDLAND Boy Scouts of America Chief Scout Executive Robert "Bob" Mazzuca will visit the Permian Basin today in preparation for the 100th birthday of the BSA in February 2010.
Mazzuca will visit local sponsors of scouting, supporters, board members and staff.
Mazzuca will meet local supporters, board members, staff and sponsors in the Permian Basin during a special reception in his honor at noon today at the George T. Abell Scout Service Center, 1101 W. Texas Ave.
Mazzuca serves as the Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Irving. A California native, Mazzuca is a longtime supporter of the Scouting movement and has served the BSA as a professional for 37 years. He assumed his current position in September 2007.
As chief Scout executive, Mazzuca directs the administration of the organization, which includes approximately 1,100 National Council employees, 5,800 local council employees, and almost 1.2 million adult volunteers who serve more than 4.5 million youth across the nation.
