About 2,100 Oncor electricity customers in East Odessa lost power Saturday morning after a breaker was damaged and an underground cable failed in the rain, according to Sue Mercer, manager for the Permian Basin area.

The outage began at about 8:30 a.m. and affected customers around JBS Parkway in East Odessa, Mercer said. Those that lost power included businesses, apartments and houses.

Power was gradually restored as the company diverted electricity from other feeders and was fully restored at 12:58 p.m., Mercer said.

Workers were still determining the exact cause Saturday afternoon and were still repairing damaged equipment, Mercer said, adding they would likely finish on Monday.
