Amber Alert: Police find 9-month-old boy
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A 9-month-old boy who was reportedly abducted by his father was found safe and sound in Hobbs, N.M., Hobbs police deputy chief Donnie Graham told the Odessa American.
Graham said 9-month-old Jesse Jaramillo Jr. was found at 705 W. Eva St. in Hobbs with his grandmother, who is Jesse Jaramillo Sr.’s mother. Jaramillo Jr. was taken into the custody of the New Mexico Child, Youth and Family Department.
Graham said they were checking several addresses in Hobbs since they knew Jaramillo Sr. had family there.
The Andrews Police Department issued an Amber Alert earlier Wednesday after the 2 a.m. abduction and gave all surrounding departments an alert for both Junior and his 28-year-old father Jaramillo Sr., who was considered a suspect in the abduction of Jaramillo Jr. A dispatcher there said they received a call at about 9:15 p.m. from one of its investigators, who in turn heard from authorities in Hobbs that Jaramillo Jr. was found.
Meanwhile, police are still looking for Jesse Jaramillo Sr. Graham said Jaramillo Sr.’s mother did not cooperate with police.
Andrews police chief Bud Jones told the Odessa American before the infant was found that Jaramillo Sr. used a knife to assault Jesse Jaramillo Jr.’s mother and then left with their son in a white 1993 Nissan Maxima. Jones said police are looking for a Maxima with New Mexico license plate numbers KWF 247 or KBK 966.
Jones said Jaramillo Sr. is 28, about 5-feet, 6-inches tall, 185 pounds and has tattoos on his neck and both arms. Jones said they have an arrest warrant out on him for two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and for endangering a child.
