HOBBS, N.M. An investigation continued Monday after a Sunday afternoon accident in Hobbs left a 48-year-old motorcyclist dead.
Capt. Donnie Graham said in a news release that no citations were issued Monday.
The police report said Bart Lilly was riding at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on North Grimes Street when a 2002 GMC Yukon pulled into the north lane of traffic. The motorcyclist laid the bike down as he collided with the Yukon. A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Lilly was taken to Lea Regional Medical Center where he died. Lilly was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
