[NR] Work on FM 1053 to start

IMPERIAL Drivers using FM 1053 some 10 miles south of Imperial will have to exercise a little patience starting this week.

Jones Brothers Dirt and Paving Contractors are scheduled to begin rehabilitating a small stretch of FM 1053. While the work is being done, one lane of the road will be closed to traffic during daytime operations.

Flag crew members will be directing traffic on the road. Motorists are asked to obey flaggers at all times as well as any warning signs in the area.

Both lanes are expected to be open at night on the road.

The contract for the job was awarded on a bid of just over $286,000.

The work site is approximately a quarter of a mile long and is located approximately 10 miles south of Imperial.

FM 1053 runs north and south. It begins between Penwell and Monahans on Interstate 20 and runs down to Fort Stockton. It goes through Imperial.
