Holiday feast
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Salvation Army of Odessa will open its doors to area residents looking for a hearty Christmas meal between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. today.
Maj. Carl Hughes with the Salvation Army of Odessa, gauging from Thanksgiving's attendance and prior Christmas meals, said he expects between 80 and 125 people to attend the meal.
"Anyone who needs a meal for the day," he said, "they are more than welcome to come and eat with us."
Volunteers will wait on those who come to eat, Hughes said, like at any other restaurant.
So far, eight turkeys have been cooked and smoked, he said, and food donations are always welcome.
Also, those who are interested in volunteering are encouraged to call the area's Salvation Amy.
Hughes said volunteers almost always have a blast.
"Thanksgiving was wonderful," he said. "I enjoyed that so much. They just had a really great time."
