Hospital board approves ProCare agreement
It was business as usual Tuesday at the Ector County Hospital District’s regular board meeting.
The board of directors approved spending up to $1.4 million in support payment contracts to ProCare to help cover expenses associated with uncompensated care, and approved a certified registered nurse anesthetist position with a base salary of $200,000.
The board also approved purchasing a $123,930 iU22 Ultrasound System to replace an old Ultrasound unit and selected the bid of Commercial Ice Machine Company in Odessa for a total cost of $153,800 to purchase equipment for proposed hospital restaurants, Quiznos and Austin Grill.
Insurance consultant Barry Couch gave the directors some good news in his report that the hospital’s annual insurance premiums had decreased by 9 percent overall to $404,801, and they approved the renewals.
Chief Information Officer Gary Barnes gave an update on the McKesson’s computerized provider order entry system, Horizon, approved in July 2009 for $6.2 million and set to go live for the emergency room on July 27 before being installed in the rest of the hospital in October.
In other action the hospital board approved:
>> The financial report for the eight months ending May 31.
>> The resignation of Dr. Kyril Choumarov in surgery effective June 24 and advancement of Dr. Russel Schroeder in radiology to active staff.
>> Hospital district committee assignments.
