Council meeting
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The City Council will consider amending Odessa's Homebuyer Assistance Program to allow buyers to purchase new homes at up to $90,000 and existing homes at up to $80,000. Right now the limits are set at $80,000 for new homes and $70,000 for existing homes.
According to the council's expanded agenda, the increase will keep pace with the rising costs of construction. Assistant City Manager for Community Services Michael Marrero has said it's been very difficult for the city to attract contractors to build affordable housing, so increasing the sale price might help to fill that gap.
The council will also consider:
>> The city's accepting of $3,515 from Texas "J" RAC 2007 Tobacco Grant funds.
>> Authorizing the police department to apply for the 2008 COPS Technology Program grant.
>> The appointment of an emergency management coordinator.
>> Purchasing automotive tires.
>> A bid award for purchase of fertilizer and pesticide as required by Ratliff Ranch Golf course.
>> Acquiring a license to operate ArcGIS Server Advanced Enterprise Windows software.
>> Authorizing the approval of an amended aerial easement and the transfer of an additional portion of street right-of-way located along Muskingum Avenue to Odessa Regional Medical Center.
>> An interlocal agreement to provide scofflaw series.
>> Opening a public hearing to consider approval of the request of Hurt Properties LP and Odessa North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for annexing 715.38 acres of land into the city limits and the request of Jack Mousa, Ltd., for annexation of two acres of land.
>> Opening a hearing and consider granting a taxicab franchise to Deborah Mapes for Independent Taxi Service.
>> Appointments to several city boards.
