Police: Man suffers non-life-threatening injuries

HOBBS A Hobbs man remains in Lea Regional Medical Center after a shooting Saturday evening.

According to a news release, Hobbs police responded to a possible fight at the Casa Hermosa apartment complex around 7:34 p.m. After hearing shots fired, officers found Ramiro Maldonado in the 2000 block on North Jefferson, just north of the apartment complex, with gunshot wounds to his back and hand.

"To my understanding, the injuries are not life-threatening," said Officer Mike Stone, public information officer for the Hobbs Police Department.

The case is currently under investigation.
