Flint Hills on agenda
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Odessa City Council will vote on an agreement that could bring the city funding from any sale of property from the site of the petrochemical plant formerly owned by Flint Hills Resources.
The proposed agreement requires the city and the Odessa Development Corp. to actively seek buyers for property at the site for economic development purposes. The buyer would be required to assume a portion of Flint Hills’ payments on the remainder of its wastewater and industrial district agreements.
In exchange, the city would receive 15 percent of any reduction in payments Flint Hills gets from the sale.
The company’s obligations to the city run through Jan. 1, 2015.
ODC’s board is scheduled to vote on the item at its Thursday meeting.
The plant, which employed 395 people, ceased operations earlier this year.
Council will also consider:
>> The sale of city property near the intersection of South Crane Avenue and Pool Road to Benjamin Velasquez for $500.
>> Second and final approval for rate and fee increases for rentals from the city parks and recreation department and the Ratliff Ranch Golf Links.

>> A reimbursement agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Dept. for overtime costs for Odessa Police Dept. for $8,500.
>> A bid for crack sealing material for $58,320 or 32.4 cents per pound.
