The Odessa Chamber of Commerce will pay tribute Wednesday to former Permian Basin International Oil Show director W.R. “Bro” Hill as its citizen of the year.

A luncheon in Hill’s honor begins at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Odessa Country Club.

Hill, the owner of Hill’s Specialty, a well service and supply company, was born in Bryson, Texas, but moved to Odessa in 1937. The 72-year-old grew up in the oil business.

Hill has been involved in many other organizations, according to OA archives, including the Odessa City Council (1991-1993), the Heart Association and the Colorado River Water Municipal District committee. He’s also been president of the Odessa Country Club and the Police Athletic League.
