Wicked winds have forced the temporary closure of State Highway 17 from Pecos to Balmorhea and F.M. 2903 between Toyah and Balmorhea.

According to Glen Larum, Texas Department of Public Safety public information officer, blowing dust has reduced the visibility along the highway, creating unsafe travel conditions.

A downed power line briefly halted eastbound traffic on Interstate-10 near Bakersfield in eastern Pecos County.

Visibility is improving after a local fire department volunteers put out a roadside wildfire.
