2 teens killed in Saturday wreck identified

ANDREWS COUNTY New details have emerged on the Saturday night rollover that claimed two lives in Andrews County.

A Texas Department of Public Safety dispatcher said 13-year-old John Nicholas-Olivas and 18-year-old Chelsea Valenzuela died at the scene of the wreck on Highway 385, two miles north of Highway 158. Neither were wearing seatbelts.

The dispatcher said the driver, 19-year-old Richard Olivas, was headed north on Highway 385 at around 8:30 p.m. when he veered off into the left lane for an undetermined reason. He overcorrected, rolling his 1997 Ford Expedition several times.

Olivas was transported to Medical Center Hospital Saturday with non-incapacitating injuries and is reported in good condition. Seven Highway Patrol officers and several Ector County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the scene.
