    Volunteers respond to blazes

    GOLDSMITH A vehicle about 5:45 p.m. Sunday overheated north of Andrews Highway and Loop 338 and set some nearby grass aflame, an Odessa Fire Department dispatcher said.

    The dispatcher didn't know the make or model of the auto.

    Around the same time, OFD dispatched volunteer Goldsmith and Andrews firefighters to an area north of Goldsmith, near Highway 181, to respond to small grass fires sparked by lightning in the area Sunday afternoon, the dispatcher said.
