    Former deputy indicted

    Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A former Terrell County deputy sheriff was arrested in Fort Stockton, two sources at the sheriff's office said.

Patrick Freeman was booked into the Pecos County jail Wednesday and bonded out the same day after he was charged with official oppression and perjury. A jailer said she was not able to access Freeman's files Friday evening and therefore could not give the amount of the bail.

No information was available on the circumstances leading to the arrest.

Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Turner called the Odessa American to report Freeman's indictment, but he then subsequently deferred all questions to the clerk's office and DPS Trooper Brian Burzynski. Turner said he couldn't comment because he was going to be the bailiff for the grand jury hearing in Freeman's case.

Messages to Burzynski were not returned.
