There is currently no indication that H2S contributed to the death of a 42-year-old Mission man found May 16 on a well site in Ector County, a news release stated.
Humberto Villanueva was pronounced dead at the scene by forensic death investigator Casey Jenkins, an Ector County Medical Examiner’s news release stated. However, the cause of death will not be ruled by the office until a final autopsy report has been received, the release stated.
Villanueva’s body was sent to Tarrant County for an autopsy on May 17.
Villanueva had last contacted his supervisor at about 9:50 p.m. May 15 to say that he was on his way from Rankin to the location where he was found, which was a well site owned by Concho Operating.
After responding to a “man down” call, sheriff’s deputies arrived to find the Odessa Fire/Rescue at the scene, taking proper procedures due to signs warning of H2S gas in the area.
The investigation is ongoing, the release stated.
