Family Promise of Odessa receives donation

The Rev. Michael L Mueller, senior pastor at Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord presents a $1,046 check to Randy McGuire, president of Family Promise of Odessa. The funds were raised by the church and matched by Thrivent for Lutherans, a Lutheran insurance and financial services company. Family Promise is an association of churches, individuals and other organizations dedicated to giving a helping hand up to homeless families with children by providing lodging at a different church each week, with showers and job training at a central facility in the daytime. Families are screened to exclude criminal and substance abuse issues. Family Promise is currently seeking additional businesses and individuals to provide on-going funding to sustain the center and its director.
