Special agent: no arrests made at this time

KERMIT FBI supervisory special agent Matt Espenshade said no arrests have been made in connection with the execution of sealed search warrants Tuesday.

The bureau searched The Winkler County News and a Kermit residence about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Espenshade said no other searches were conducted Wednesday.

"The investigation is ongoing," Espenshade said.

He said the FBI, with the help of Kermit police and other area law enforcement, seized property from each search location Tuesday.

Espenshade declined to say what the warrants were for, saying the court documents were sealed by a U.S. district court.

A phone call to The Winkler County News was not answered Wednesday.
