Medical Center Hospital Chief of Medicine Dr. Bruce Becker and Cindy Fouche, local DVT Awareness and Prevention advocate, were presented a proclamation at the City Council meeting March 10 proclaiming March as DVT/PE (deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism) Awareness month. DVT/PE are major national health problems that have dramatic negative effects on the lives of thousands of Americans each year. On Sept. 15, 2008, the Office of the Surgeon General issued a call to action to reduce the number or DVT/PE cases in the US.
