Body found in Rio Grande

Presidio County sheriff investigators are waiting for autopsy results to see what killed a man found dead in the Rio Grande near Presidio late Tuesday morning, Sheriff Danny Dominguez said.

Dominguez said border patrol agents found the body in the river about three quarters of a mile south of Presidio.

Dominguez said the body was sent to El Paso for the autopsy. Dominguez said he couldn't tell if foul play was involved, nor did he know whether the man was trying to illegally cross the border.

"We have no idea the cause of death, and we couldn't tell," Dominguez said.

He expected the preliminary autopsy results along with the man's identity to be available next week.
