Disciples Village II

The groundbreaking for Disciples Village II, a new 30-unit affordable senior adult housing community was held recently. The new unit, sponsored in part by First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is located next to Disciples Village I at 2430 E. 11th St. Those breaking ground are, from left to right: Tommie Cordova, building contractor; Herman Thun, architect; Royce Bodiford, Odessa City Council member; Darlene May, Disciples Village board member; Michel Marrero, assistant city manager; Larry Melton, Odessa mayor; Donnie Norwood, president of Disciples Village board; Bob Hazlett, Christian Church Homes; Kathleen Mertz, Christian Church Homes; and Felicia Ross, Disciples Village administrator. Other sponsors of this independent living facility for very low-income senior adults are the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Odessa and Christian Church Homes of Northern California.
