Two people suffered minor injuries late Sunday after an Odessa woman was accused of deliberately ramming her car into an unoccupied car that crashed into an Odessa apartment building.
Angellina Smith, 22, was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief and transported to the Ector County Law Detention Center, according to Odessa police spokeswoman Cpl. Sherrie Carruth. Damages are estimated at more than $60,000. Smith's first name also is spelled Angilia, according to Ector County Sheriff's Office records.
Odessa police officers responded to a report of a crash around 11 p.m. Sunday at Seville Apartments, 4641 Oakwood Drive. During their investigation, officers learned Smith got into an argument with her ex-girlfriend and another female inside their apartment. A struggle ensued over a weapon, and the ex-girlfriend along with her friend fled on foot from the apartment to notify police, Carruth said.
Smith left the apartment and got into her vehicle and intentionally hit her ex-girlfriend's vehicle, which was parked in a spot a few feet from a transformer and the apartment building wall. The crash impact forced the unoccupied vehicle through a transformer and through the apartment building wall, injuring a couple, Carruth said.
The couple were transported to Medical Center Hospital where they were treated. Smith was not transported, Carruth said.
