Police and federal agents in Big Spring seized guns and narcotics in a Thursday raid, according to a release from the Big Spring Police Department.
Authorities arrested 43-year-old Jose Lopez Chavez at the scene, 300 Tulane Ave., the release stated, after discovering four guns, one of which was stolen, about 1.5 ounces of heroin, a quarter pound of marijuana, 2.5 ounces of methamphetamine and some prescription pills and cocaine. About $5,000 in cash and two vehicles were also seized.
Chavez was charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of felony drug possession and booked into Howard County Detention Center, according to the release. The search warrant came after several months of investigation on a drug trafficking case, the release stated.
