The Midland County Sheriff's Office found a missing woman's body after her 37-year-old ex-boyfriend admitted Sunday in Houston to killing her.
Michelle Warner, 31, was found in an oilfield, according to a news release by the Houston Police Department, eight days after her family last saw her.
According to the news release, Mark Augustin Castellano was charged with murder after admitting to killing her and telling the Houston Police Department where to find her body.
Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said the office got the call at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday and it took deputies about four hours to find the body.
“We had to search a pretty large area,” Painter said. “They gave us a general area, not an exact location.”
But the body was eventually found near the end of Cotton Flat Road, about half a mile or three-quarters of a mile south of West County Road 150.
Painter said the body was in a partial grave and was not disturbed by recent rains, but was exposed to the elements.
The body eventually will be transported to the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Warner disappeared after she and Castellano had an argument, according to the release, and Castellano then left Houston with their 3-year-old son to visit relatives in Odessa.
According to the news release, Castellano said he killed Warner and left her in their apartment at 7222 Bellerive Drivein Houston.
He said he then drove to Odessa and left his son with family member while he went back to Houston to retrieve her body and bring it to the Permian Basin, according to the news release.
Castellano said he attempted to bury her in an oilfield, according to the news release.
He was charged with murder in the 184th District Court in Houston.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Castellano filmed a segment for a Dr. Phil episode about his ex-girlfriend’s disappearance. The episode is expected to air Thursday.
