A 34-year-old Corpus Christi man was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after, court documents state, he used a knife to cut the face of his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend.
Antonio Sotelo Tavarez, 7033 Treetop Place, Corpus Christi, was awaiting bond Friday at the Ector County Detention Center.
On June 20, David Solis, 38, reported to the Odessa Police Department that he was assaulted with a knife at 12:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Jackson Avenue, an arrest affidavit stated. The cut on his face was reported as being on the right side of Solis’ face, just below his right ear on the jaw.
Twenty-six-year-old Kristy Flores said her ex-boyfriend, identified as Tavarez, was making threats over the phone to Solis, her current boyfriend, the affidavit stated. Flores said Tavarez showed up at the couple’s residence around 12:30 a.m. and tried to enter the residence, but was stopped by Solis, the affidavit stated.
The two men then began to fight in the yard and after the flight, Flores noticed Solis was bleeding, the affidavit stated.
Solis identified Tavarez through a jail photo as the person who assaulted him, the affidavit stated.
