Money missing
Crane JP calls Rangers in to investigate
The Texas Rangers are investigating missing money from a Crane County office and expect to file charges within the next two weeks, Sgt. Jess Malone said Thursday.
Crane County Justice of the Peace Donna Clack called the Texas Rangers on Nov. 28 after she noticed irregularities in her office’s bookkeeping, Malone said. The Rangers hired independent auditors to check the balances and confirmed about $7,000 was missing.
A suspect, who is fully cooperating and remorseful, has been questioned, but no charges have been filed, Malone said.
The money was taken from income from traffic fines.
