Twisters hit hit northwest Texas

There was little damage after three tornadoes and other severe weather hit northeast Permian Basin towns Wednesday evening.

Greg Morgan, KOSA-TV severe weather specialist, said there were tornadoes that touched down in northern Martin County and southern Dawson County.

"Thankfully none of these tornadoes did much damage," Morgan said. "I think the most they did was tear up a cotton field."

Dispatchers from the Howard and Dawson County Sheriff's Offices said they had no reports of damages caused by the weather.

An employee of the Scurry County Sheriff's Office said the weather caused a couple of tin roofs to become detached from houses and power lines and trees were knocked down.

Morgan said another tornado touched down 11 miles north of Big Spring.

A Big Spring Police Department dispatcher said she heard no reports of damages caused by the tornado.

Ray Fagen, National Weather Service meteorologist, said there were reports of baseball-sized hail in northern Martin County.

A dispatcher from Martin County said there were no reports of damages caused by the weather.

Morgan said the possibility of severe weather moving to the Ector County didn't seem likely.
