County to consider “no shows”
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Ector County commissioners could decide Monday on what action they want to take against people who are “no shows” for appointments at the county’s new employee wellness center.
At their Nov. 9 meeting, Pat Patton, county human resources director, told commissioners that a number of employees had not appeared for scheduled appointments at the health clinic, which opened in August 2008. She said some employees had missed as many as nine appointments during that time.
Commissioners tabled the discussion at the last meeting because County Judge Susan Redford wanted to study how places like Midland County handle similar situations. Suggestions were made to consider fining “no shows” and even cutting services from people who don’t pay fines.
Commissioners will also consider a new civil filing fee that was created this year by the Texas Legislature. House Bill 3637 will raise certain filing fees from $5 to $10 in statutory and county courts and from $2 to $6 in justice courts.
Fees collected from the program are designed to fund county and district court technology funds, which help pay for continuing education and training for courts technological enhancements.
Commissioners will also consider:
>> A resolution in support of a State Energy Conservation Office grant.
>> A report on policy training for elected officials and employees.
>> A conversion to Tyler’s Odyssey software.
>> A request for the purchasing agent to issue request for qualifications for a financial adviser.
>> A joint contract with the Republican and Democratic parties to hold a joint election March 2.
>> The purchase of a used loader.
>> A fiscal year 2009-2010 contract with the Texas Department of State Health Services and tuberculosis program.
>> The release of $18,895 for environmental cleanup.
>> A placement from step 1 to step 2 for a receptionist/reimbursement clerk at the Ector County Health Department.
