Comments 0 | Recommend 0Ector County commissioners are expected to appoint a new Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2 at Monday's meeting.
The position has been vacant since former Justice of the Peace Dennis Bright's retirement was accepted at a special meeting Jan. 30. The position pays $52,162.32 annually and runs until the end of 2010, when the four-year term Bright was elected to in 2006 expires.
The Odessa American filed a Freedom of Information request seeking the names of the applicants for the position Feb. 13, the day applications were due with the county. Ector County has yet to respond to the request.
Efforts to reach County Judge Susan Redford and human resources director Pat Patton were unsuccessful Friday.
Commissioners will also consider:
>> Building, purchasing and installing traffic control signs and street name signs for the City of Gardendale.
>> Accepting a donation of $200 from Orlando Parra of Sonic.
>> Approving the 2008 Annual List of Gifts and Memoriams to the Ector County Library.
>> Amending the bylaws for the Ector County Airport Board.
>> Approving appointments to the Ector County Historical Commission for 2009 and 2010.
>> Approving appointments to the Ector County Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy Executive Committee for 2009.
>> Appointments to the City/County Complete Count Committee for the U.S. Census Bureau.
>> Bid specifications for asphalt patching material, asphaltic material, graded base material and seal coat aggregate.
>> Bids on a 20-yard bottom dump material transport trailer.
>> Implementing a permit fee for pool inspections in the water quality program.
>> Line item transfers of $2,505 from department furniture and equipment to building materials and $285 from professional duties and fees to office supplies.
>> Budget amendments of $417 to office supplies from unreserved fund balance and $1,782 to department furniture and equipment from unreserved fund balance.
