Voting opens on Ward hospital district

WARD COUNTY Ward County voters have an opportunity today to decide whether they’d like a hospital district to replace the county’s oversight of Ward Memorial Hospital.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. Voters in the Monahans area should vote at the county clerk’s office, while those in the outlying towns of Grandfalls, Wickett, Pyote and Barstow should vote at their original polling places.
A hospital district can set its own tax rate, and the board members are publicly elected instead of appointed by county commissioners.
