Bible committee
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Duke Pesta, an Oklahoma State University English professor, arrived Thursday in Odessa to continue his work with an Ector County Independent School District committee charged with developing a Bible curriculum for the 2008-'09 school year.
ECISD superintendent Hector Mendez and committee members first met with Pesta in April.
Pesta, a 15-year educator on the history and literature of the Bible, said he plans to provide his college curriculum to the ECISD committee to use for its new Bible course to meet the requirements of a federal lawsuit settlement over the district's Bible course.
Pesta plans to meet with the committee today, Mendez said, noting Pesta also worked with the committee Thursday evening.
The committee must present a new curriculum to the Ector County Independent School District's board of trustees by June 1.
