College and Career Readiness Initiative (CCRI)
The University of Texas of the Permian Basin hosted a College and Career Readiness Initiative (CCRI) for its faculty plus English and mathematics vertical team members from Midland Independent School District, Ector County ISD, Odessa College and Midland College Feb. 16 at the CEED Building. Seventy area-wide educators attended. This initial meeting included an overview of the statewide CCRI and discipline-specific brainstorming to identify ways to work together (vertically) to improve college readiness and teacher preparation. At the conclusion, two commitments were secured from each group to improve students’ readiness and teacher preparation during the next 30 days. Vertical teams will reconvene March 30, as this is a long-term commitment.
