UTPB Spanish Literary Club

ODESSA AMERICAN

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin Spanish Literary Club (Club de Literatura en Espanol) met for the monthly meeting Oct. 9. Members discussed the short story “La muerte y la brujula” by the Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. The meeting was presented by Argentines, Odessa residents and alumni of UTPB Hilda Marianacci and Renee Salas. Moderator was Rhina Toruño-Haensly, president of the community organization and advisor for the club. The club meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at Barnes and Noble in Midland. The next meeting will be Nov. 13 and include Colombian residents and alumni of UTPB, who will present the literature of Colombian authors.
