Cut the grass
The recent wet weather brought mosquitoes and overgrown vegetation to the Permian Basin.
The City of Odessa is reminding property owners that they need to cut grass, weeds and other vegetation that is more than 12 inches tall. It is a violation of city ordinance to have vegetation more than 12 inches tall, a release issued by public information officer Andrea Goodson said.
Owners who do not maintain their property could be cited up to $500.
Cutting down tall vegetation will also reduce the number of mosquitoes.
